Languages
French Beginners
Students who have studies less that 100 hours of French are eligible to study French Beginners. This course allows students to develop their French language skills in speaking, reading, writing and listening through well structured units of work. The units are based on themes from the syllabus and will give the students the confidence to sit the HSC for French Beginners.
The French Beginners course is presented by experiences teachers who have an excellent understanding of what students need to achieve at the highest level and how to get them to this standard. All Beginners students will be well supported by understanding teachers on their French language learning journey.

French Continuers
Kirrawee High School has a successful Stage 6 French Continuers course. Last year (2021), over 50% of students received a band 5. Our teachers have over 15 years experience in delivering this course and are passionate about language learning. They are there to support and guide you on your French language learning journey.
French Continuers is a contemporary and dynamic course that will enable you to be able to communicate and interact in French for a variety of purposes and audiences. The Continuers course is only available to students who have completed Stage 4 and 5 French.

French Extension
Students in Yr 12 are able to pick up French Extension. The French Extension course is for students with a high level of French that are looking to extend their French skills. The course involves a film study, currently the film is “Les Intouchables” which is a moving and thought provoking film. Students enjoy this film study as they are immersed in modern French language. The HSC examination has a film analysis component and a creative writing task in which students write from the perspective of a character.
The extension course also looks at prescribed issues that are linked to the film. The issues are Acceptance, Resilience and Identity. These concepts are studied in depth through contemporary issues through a variety of media. Our study of the prescribed issues led students to prepare a monologue in the HSC oral examination as well as an essay in the written paper.

Japanese Beginners

Japanese Continuers
